Celebrate June Dairy Month – WJLE Radio

June 1, 2022

On Friday, May 27, County Mayor Tim Stribling signed a proclamation to officially designate June as Dairy Month in DeKalb County. 4-H June Dairy Month Chair Kylynn Smullen and 4-H Ambassador Jacklyn Kleparek attended the signing. The event was even celebrated with a milkshake.

The proclamation reads as follows:

WHEREAS dairy farmers have contributed to the development and well-being of DeKalb County since DeKalb County was first formed.

WHEREAS the dairy industry is a major industry in Tennessee, an important contributor to the economy.

WHEREAS milk and milk products provide health benefits and valuable nutrients; and

WHEREAS real milk and dairy products are superior to their imitations in terms of quality, value and taste; and

WHEREAS the 85th June Dairy Month celebration, showcasing the dairy industry, will take place in 2022;

Now, therefore, be it resolved by Tim Stribling, Mayor of DeKalb County, that June 2022 be designated for the celebration of June Dairy Month, and I call upon all government agencies and residents of DeKalb County to to observe the month with appropriate programs and activities.

DeKalb County 4-H has many activities planned for the month. There will be contests, farm tours, stories, recipes and more, as well as a dairy product drive.
