Jelly Roll Earns First-Ever No. 1 Radio Hit With “Dead Man Walking”: “The Losers Win Again Baby!”


Jelly Roll”walking dead man” officially secures the number one spot on Mediabase’s Active Rock Radio charts!

The indie artist from Nashville, Tennessee scored his first-ever No. 1 with his first rock radio single. According to Title Planetwhich also reported that the number of rotations reflects a weekly gain of 83.

The country rocker took to social media on Monday afternoon (May 9) to celebrate and share the exciting news of his first-ever No. 1 radio hit with fans.

“I can’t believe I’m capable of making this video right now…Coming from where I’m from and making music for the group of people I make music for…” he captioned the video. “This is one of the greatest accomplishments of my entire life and career, my first number 1 on radio, thank you so much for supporting Dead Man Walking.”

Overjoyed, Jelly Roll graciously thanked fans for their endless support in the clip.

” Guess what ? We did it baby! I don’t know if you’ve seen or heard the news yet, but we’re the #1 song on rock radio right now! Listen, this is my first… Listen, I never thought I’d even be on f**king radio, but the fact that we’re #1 on radio is the week baby! Jelly Roll said in the clip. “We are celebrating now, thank you very much man. I remember doing a post weeks ago like y’all I never thought I’d be in the Top 20 or Top 10, let’s just try to get into the Top 5. I’m in the n #1 y’all, #1 song on rock radio, losers win again baby!

He also let fans know that his single, “Son Of A Sinner,” sits at No. 32 on the Mediabase Country chart as he celebrates his first-ever No. 1.

“The year of the underdog. Guess what else? N°32 on Country radio with ‘Son Of A Sinner’ today too baby, let’s enter the Top 30! Man, I love you all, just wanna thank you all,” Jelly Roll continued. “Thanks to everyone who helped the record. God, thank you man!

Produced by Andrew Baylis and co-written by Jelly Roll alongside Baylis and David Ray, “Dead Man Walking” appears on the Nashville native’s 10-track album, Ballads of the Broken. The album that details the hitmaker’s struggles with addiction.

“This album is the truth. It is my truth. I put my blood, sweat and tears into this and I hope you all can hear my heart,” Jelly Roll previously shared about the project. “Pain is an international language – everyone shares it to some degree – being on the road and meeting fans I’ve learned that the more open you are to talking about it the more people can relate to it and I hope we can heal together through this album.

In addition to earning the No. 1 spot on rock radio with “Dead Man Walking,” Jelly Roll’s “Son Of A Sinner,” which was the most added song on country radio at the time of impact with 76 additions of stations the first week. , continues to climb the country radio charts rapidly and currently sits at #32. The track also appears on his 2021 project, Ballads of the Broken.

Recently, during an interview with Audacy’s Katie NeelJelly Roll has opened up about how much he loves being part of the country music community.

Rapper-turned-country-rocker Jelly Roll made his Grand Ole Opry debut in November 2021, which he called a dream come true.

“Dreams come true – you can change your life. The impossible is possible,” he wrote on his Opry debut. “Dare to be different. I prefer memories to money. (Yes, sometimes money can help create great memories) – but nights like last night are something money could never buy.

He continued: “Thank you to everyone who came out last night. I have never felt more loved in my life. Receiving a standing ovation on my Grand Ole Opry debut is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life. “Last night is what dreams are made of…..moments that will live forever. Plus, Jelly Roll will soon be hitting the road with Brantley Gilbert on the just-announced Sons of the Dirty South Tour. The trek, featuring headliners Gilbert and Jelly Roll, will also include special guest Pillbox Patti. The Son Of The Dirty South Tour kicks off June 30 in Jacksonville, Florida and runs through the end of August, where the ride concludes in Brandon, Mississippi at the Brandon Amphitheater on August 27.

In a press release, the hitmakers shared their excitement about hitting the road together on the Son Of The Dirty South Tour.
