Singer-songwriter Joan Osborne will release a collection of live studio radio recordings titled Radio Waves on February 22 (via her Womanly Hips Records imprint). The 13-song album is a unique, hand-picked assortment of Osborne’s favorite and most gripping live appearances, culled from over 100 radio station performances over his 25-year career. See the full track list below.

Following the 2020 release of her critically acclaimed film Trouble and Strife, Osborne canceled her touring plans and spent lockdown like many others – visiting dormant projects and sorting through the contents of dusty old shoeboxes.

“Most of my life’s work disappeared without a trace,” Osborne said. “I’ve made over 10 studio albums, but the vast majority of the songs I’ve sung hundreds and thousands of times over decades of touring the world have never been recorded.”

What Osborne found buried deep in his closets are relics of those lost performances; live recordings of time capsules highlighting the dynamism of lightning in a bottle that makes her a fascinating performer. The Radio Waves tracks cover a wide range of styles and sources, perfectly on display in the album’s bookends – starting with “Saint Teresa” from a 1995 KCRW session and ending with a take of “Everybody is a Star” by Sly and the Family Stone. » performed at the KROQ in 2002.

Osborne’s silky vocals, soulful, smooth instrumentation from veteran accompanists Andrew Carillo and Jack Petruzzelli, and a keen ear for soulful song selections, are consistent throughout Radio Waves. Inspiring stylistic choices span classics like Stevie Wonder’s “Love’s in Need of Love Today” and Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love,” plus deeper cuts like Bill Withers’ “Same Love That Made Me Laugh” and “Toshi Reagon” by Toshi Reagon. True love”.

Osborne has announced the dates for his first tour since releasing Trouble and Strife in 2020. See the full list below.

Throughout her 25-year, multiple Grammy-nominated career, Joan Osborne has never been an artist confined to one space. She used her incredible voice through her own songs while becoming one of the best performers of her generation. Radio Waves is a living document of this.
