Man charged with murder in East 8th Street shooting

A Lexington man was indicted Friday by the Christian County grand jury in connection with a November fatal shooting on East 8th Street in Hopkinsville.

Deovion Monquavious Day, 22, has been charged with murder, first degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

According to Hopkinsville police, Day was arrested in Fayette County on a warrant last month in connection with the death of 21-year-old Aniya Collins, who was found dead in her vehicle from a gunshot wound. bullet to the chest on November 28, 2021.

Police say Zamarius Humphries, 21, was also found shot dead in the road and Gteria Acree, 30, reportedly showed up at Jennie Stuart Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Day was one of three suspects wanted in the shooting investigation. Jaquavian Spencer, 27, wanted for first-degree assault, and Humphries, wanted for attempted first-degree assault, remain at large and wanted by law enforcement.

According to WTVQ, Day was also charged in Fayette County with two counts of probation violation for fourth-degree assault, marijuana trafficking, six counts of wanton endangerment and six counts of third-degree terrorism threat.

Day is incarcerated in Christian County Jail.
