LOS ANGELES (AP) — Allison Gollust, the CNN executive whose relationship with Jeff Zucker led to his resignation as cable network president, is leaving after an internal investigation found news standards violations, said said parent company WarnerMedia.

Gollus’ resignation on Tuesday follows the conclusion of an investigation into former anchor Chris Cuomo and his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, according to a memo from Jason Kilar, CEO of WarnerMedia, the company CNN’s mother.

“The investigation revealed violations of company policies, including CNN News Standards and Practices, by Jeff Zucker, Allison Gollust and Chris Cuomo,” Kilar said in the memo.

WarnerMedia confirmed the memo and echoed it in a statement. The company declined to comment further.

Chris Cuomo has been fired after it was revealed in documents released by New York Attorney General Letitia James that his behind-the-scenes role in helping craft his brother’s response to the harassment charges was more extensive than was not recognized before.

James’ office found that Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed at least 11 women. The former governor resigned in August to avoid a likely impeachment trial.

In Kilar’s memo, he said the investigation, which concluded last week, was based on interviews and a review of more than 100,000 text messages and emails. The investigation was conducted by a third-party law firm and led by a former federal judge, the memo said.

“I realize this news is disturbing, disappointing and frankly painful to read. These are valid feelings that many of you have,” Kilar said. “We have the highest standards of journalistic integrity at CNN. , and these rules must apply to all equally.”

Gollus fired back in a statement.

“WarnerMedia’s statement tonight is an attempt to retaliate against me and change the media narrative following their disastrous handling of the past two weeks,” she said. “It is deeply disappointing that after spending the past nine years upholding and upholding CNN’s highest standards of journalistic integrity, I am being treated this way upon my departure.”

Gollust, a former publicist who rose to the rank of executive vice president and chief marketing officer at CNN, remained with the network after Zucker resigned earlier this month.

“Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years,” she said in a statement released at the time. “Recently our relationship changed during COVID. I regret that we did not reveal it at the right time. I am incredibly proud of my time at CNN and look forward to continuing the great work we do every day.

Before joining CNN, Gollust served as director of communications for Andrew Cuomo. Like Zucker, she worked at NBC before that. Both are divorced.

“I recognized that the relationship has evolved over the past few years,” Zucker wrote in a note announcing the end of his nine-year term. “I was required to disclose it when it started, but I didn’t. I was wrong.”

Zucker has been an industry leader since serving as executive producer of the show “Today” in the 1990s. Over the next decade, he led NBC’s entertainment division, where he played a role instrumental in the broadcast of the reality show “The Apprentice” starring Donald Trump.
