Sirius XM: SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Power Rating

NASCAR tackled a dirt track at Bristol Motor Speedway for the second straight year. Here is an overview of the Power ratings after Sunday’s race at “Thunder Valley”:

1. Chase Elliott

Nothing spectacular for Elliott, but a hard working effort to stay in the top 10 for much of the night and when it was over the Hendrick Motorsports driver found himself eighth.

Ranking by points: 1st

2.William Byron

A somewhat surprisingly tough night for Byron who came to Bristol after winning at Martinsville the previous week. But he didn’t have much on the Bristol clay on Sunday and posted a disappointing 18th place finish.

Ranking by points: 4th

3. Ryan Blaney

He had to come from the 25th starting point to make his way to the front of the peloton. Once there, Blaney stayed in the game and cracked the top five with a fifth-place finish.

Ranking by points: 2nd

4. Alex Bowman

He hovered near the front runners for most of Sunday night and Bowman showed off his track prowess with a solid effort from Bristol that earned the Hendrick Motorsports driver a sixth-place finish.

Ranking by points: 5th

5. Kyle Busch

He will take it. Busch was the beneficiary of Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe battling for the lead on the final lap and when they both spun Busch took the opportunity to take his first win of the season. He has now won a Cup race in 18 consecutive seasons.

Ranking by points: 6th
Last week: 7

6. Kyle Larson

He led 27 laps and was among the leaders for most of the night and when the checkered flag flew Larson crossed the finish line in fourth position to put a much needed top five on the board.

Points classification: 9th
Last week: 8

7.Joey Logano

Two clay outings in Bristol for Logano and a second-place average. He followed up his victory in last year’s inaugural race with a third-place finish on Sunday night.

Ranking by points: 3rd
Last week: 10

8. Chasing Briscoe

One of the best performances of the night as Briscoe led 59 laps and was a factor in the result when he tried to slip by race leader Tyler Reddick on the final lap to make contact and remove the two pilots racing for victory.

Ranking by points: 10th
Last week: 9

9.Ross Chastain

His ups and downs of the past few weeks were back at Bristol as Chastain suffered engine trouble that saw him finish 33rd after being knocked out of the competition on lap 150.

Points classification: 8th
Last week: 3rd

10. Denny Hamlin

A miserable outing on Bristol dirt for Hamlin who struggled all weekend, including a tough 34th starting place before seeing an engine die on lap 91 of the race to give driver Joe Gibbs Racing a 35th place finish .

Last week: 6th
